Pantelleria is a volcanic island located in the middle of the Mediterranean, south of Sicily and a few kilometers from Tunisia. The territory is characterized by a rocky surface, small and very steep roads and this is why it is often difficult to explore. The fastest way to get there is for sure by plane, in fact on the island you can find an airport.

Pantelleria is a land of contrasts, where you can see immense expanses of greenery interspersed with giant grasslands and farms. The coast is very difficult to reach, but once successful it is impossible not to fall in love. The water is crystal clear, blue and green: it seems to be in a place far from Italy, immersed in a paradise like no other. Here you can rent a boat or go away alone to be able to observe the natural paradise of the island. There are, however, some stages that we recommend to do, some very important points of Pantelleria that make it a special place. We will list them here.

Lago Specchio di Venere (Lake Mirror of Venus): it is a very particular lake, because its water reaches very high temperatures, between 40°C and 50°C. Often used as a destination for those who want to undergo a natural beauty treatment, you can come here and do natural mud bath treatments. Then you can dive into the geothermal waters to finish the treatment.

Balata dei Turchi: If you are willing to challenge the steep descent of 3 km in a dirt road and therefore by nature very treacherous, then you will reach one of the most beautiful viewpoints of Pantelleria where you can swim freely hidden from the eyes of the world. It is a hidden quarry where you can observe the blue and green colors typical of Pantelleria and where you can swim in the rocks of ancient lava.

Archaeological Park of the Sesi: An archaeological site located on the northwest coast of Pantelleria. In this place are preserved some rare specimens of rock in the shape of a mound of Megalithic origin, called "sesi". This brings us at least to the second millennium BC and it is for this reason that many sesi have been reduced to dust, except for the largest one that you can visit as it remained intact: we're talking about the Sese Grande, or Sese del Re.

Elephant Arch: It is a stone arch building that takes its name from the typical shape that resembles that of an elephant. It is a very secluded and hidden place, which you can reach by heading towards the twin coves of Cala Tramontana and Cala Levante on the eastern shore of Pantelleria. Once there, turning south and continuing for 700 meters, you can find yourself in front of this natural paradise.

Cala Tramontana: One of the most typical places in Pantelleria for swimming and swimming is certainly Cala Tramontana, a small rocky cove that has been specially equipped for tourists as it has a wooden sundeck on which to lie down, supported by the typical "dammusi", shallow-domed traditional stone houses.

Cala Levante: Like Cala Tramontana, it is a long stretch of coast where you can swim and swim. Characterized by rugged cliffs and great views, Cala Levante is famous especially for making the cove of the coast very picturesque.

Volcanological Museum: Pantelleria does not lack culture. The Volcanological Museum is a small museum, totally free, which you can find near the lighthouse of Punta Spadillo. In this museum it is possible to observe some beautiful collections in Italian and English that speak mainly about the volcanic geology of Pantelleria but also about the history of the island that has played a fundamental strategic role to the Axis troops in the second war world-wide.
