It can be said that August is the month par excellence to spend in Italy, because it is in fact the hottest and it is the one that allows workers to enjoy the holidays without stress. Unfortunately it is also true that the month of August is considered by Italy a month of high season, and it is for this reason that the prices usually low or moderate become very high and sometimes unmanageable.

Attend the Palio in Siena

The Palio di Siena is a traditional activity typical of the culture of the region. It consists in a challenge between the whole neighborhood (called in dialect "contrade") that present themselves with a horse and a rider. It takes place in Piazza del Campo and is the main event of the city that provides for a long preparation months. It is celebrated twice a year, on 2 July and 16 August. 

Next to the square there is also the beautiful cathedral in black and white marble and also the City Museum housed in the Palazzo Pubblico.
